Project Criteria

After you finish 40 hours of required coursework, the last step needed to earn your certificate is the leadership project.

You submit and present a health care IT project for which you have a leadership role. Presentations must describe how you showed and applied leadership principles in addressing challenges and opportunities. The project must be ongoing or have been executed in the last 24 months. Projects are presented during live online seminars (webinars) throughout the year.
To participate, you must submit an abstract of your IT project for pre-approval online.
Project abstracts will be reviewed by the American Association for Physician Leadership. Upon approval, you’ll be notified of your webinar date and time. You’ll get a link to submit the final project.
You create your presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint. It must be 7 to 10 minutes long. You will get a 30-minute rehearsal two days before the webinar presentation. There, you can test webcams and other technical setups and ask questions. During your assigned webinar, you’ll show your PowerPoint, get feedback and answer questions about your project from a panel of experts and other presenters.
