TAMPA, Florida – The American Association for Physician Leadership® is seeking nominations for its annual awards designed to recognize organizations and individuals for demonstrating excellence and innovation in leadership education and management training programs for physicians.

The association is accepting nominations for the Leape Ahead Award, which recognizes organizations that are dedicated to improving the overall quality of health care by developing medical students and residents into future physician leaders. The award honors medical schools, teaching hospitals and academic medical centers for creating programs or courses that focus on the interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills of future physician leaders. The award honors the dedication and commitment of Lucian Leape, MD, toward advancing efficient, effective and caring delivery of medicine in the United States.

The association is also accepting nominations for the Roger Schenke Award, which recognizes individuals who have exhibited innovation in the creation of education or training programs to advance physician leadership and improve health care. The award honors the vision and commitment to excellence displayed by Roger Schenke, who in 1975 founded the organization that is now the American Association for Physician Leadership®. Nominees should be individuals who have exhibited innovation in the creation of programs designed to advance physician leadership and improve health care.

For more information, including award criteria and videos of last year’s awards winners, and to submit a nomination, visit the association’s awards page. Email applications will not be accepted.
